Unlimited Bandwidth: Just a Myth?

There are many hosting companies today who offer unlimited bandwidth in their hosting plans. But is there such a thing as unlimited bandwidth?

First of all, everything in this world has a limit. No matter if we are talking about hosting, computers, or anything else. You cannot consume all server resources when you are hosted on a shared server. This is obvious.

Check the terms of service of the hosting provider. Many providers may say that they will discontinue your service if you are using an unfair portion of bandwidth. Also, many providers may say that unlimited bandwidth means 10GB or so. A lot of hosting providers rely on the fact that their customers will not use much of their bandwidth.

As a conclusion, we could say that hosting small to medium websites will probably not cause bandwidth problems on most unlimited hosting plans. But if you have a really large website then better go for a dedicate server.
